Land lotus Sterculia urens
An absolute eye-catcher in the aquarium and terrarium.
- the special decoration for terrarium and aquarium
- pure natural product
The land lotus, botanically called Sterculia urens / Stercúlia úrens, comes from India.
It is the woody, female flower of the lotus tree. The flowers usually have 4-5 leaves.
In the terrarium they serve as a hiding place or simply as decoration - in the aquarium they also offer food for the offspring due to the growth that occurs.
The contained tannins and humic substances enrich the water, which has a positive effect on all aquatic life.
In the aquarium, the flowers need a few days to sink. This can be prevented by putting a small stone in it, which can be removed after 3-5 days. Before putting it into the aquarium, wash it off briefly or, like any wood, soak it in water for a few days.
The land lotus is a purely natural product which, depending on the weather etc., can also be a little "dirty". You can either wash it off or leave it on both in the aquarium and in the terrarium.
The flowers have a total diameter of about 8-13 cm. They are therefore also suitable for nano tanks.
Since it is a purely natural product, appearance and size can of course vary slightly. It can also happen that a sheet has broken off or wobbles. This is due to the fact that the flowers are of course quite filigree and does not constitute a reason for complaint. However, we always deliver flowers with at least 4 intact leaves.
If you like, you can tell us in the information field when ordering whether it should be a small or a larger flower. We will then try to take this into account depending on availability.
